WHAT'S THE BEST WAY TO CONTACT YOU?

CAN YOU EXPLAIN YOUR PROCESS?

Sure! Our process is outlined in our Steps to Own found here https://www.hickoryridgegoldens.com/steps-to-own  Please familiarize yourself with our WHOLE process, before reserving a puppy. If we determine you are a good fit, approval is given to place a deposit. A puppy deposit is $250, and that goes toward your total. 

WHY DO I NEED TO BE APPROVED TO RESERVE A PUPPY?  
Adding a pet to your family is a longterm commitment to its care and wellbeing. It is important to us that each of our puppies go to great homes that are prepared to love and care for a dog. Step 1 will give you opportunity to share information with us. This step helps us vet potential families, and determine if they are a good fit for one of our Golden pups. 

 

WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?

We are located in Missouri, about 30 minutes north of Columbia. 

WHAT FORMS OF PAYMENT DO YOU TAKE?
We only accept electronic payment (via Paypal) for tax and accounting purposes. We do not accept cash or checks.

ARE YOU A LICENSED KENNEL?
Yes, we are licensed and inspected by the state. We have a newly built, climate controlled facility. Our dogs have ongoing indoor/outdoor access, providing areas for running and play, as well as rest, shelter, and care. We heap lots of love and affection on them. They also have opportunities for  adventures at the pond, walks, or exploring our property.

HOW IS PICK IN THE LITTER DETERMINED?
Pick in the litter is determined by the order in which approved families place their deposits. 

DO YOU OFFER FULL REGISTRATION FOR BREEDING?
We offer AKC Limited Registration - which is pet only, no breeding.  We do not offer breeding rights, sales to breeders or pet stores. Our puppies are sent ONLY to forever homes as pets.  

 

DO YOU GUARANTEE YOUR PUPPIES?

Our puppies come with a 2- year genetic health guarantee, which guarantees against life-threatening, crippling, and/or disabling congenital (genetic) health defects, as per the terms of our Puppy Adoption Contract.

WHAT TRAINING & CONDITIONING DO THE PUPPIES RECEIVE?
The puppies are provided toys to stimulate their development and play. They are exposed to various sounds such as music, fans, doors, running water, etc. They are handled by adults and children, and introduced to our other dogs. Our puppies have indoor / outdoor access. This, combined with their natural desire to do their business away from where they sleep and eat, provides a good launchpad. We often receive great feedback that the pups are well on their way to potty training once home.

DO YOU ALLOW VISITS AND TOURS?
We do not arrange facility tours / visits. We adhere to strict biosecurity to protect the health and wellbeing of our dogs. We realize that all breeders have their unique approach and process. If you are not comfortable with our process, we respect that, and understand that another breeder may be a better fit for you. 

HOW DO I CHOOSE MY PUPPY?
Puppy selection happens on a predetermined date, when the puppies are about 6 weeks old. This is a completely online process. We provide a link to view individual photos and video of each pup. Families take some time to view these and choose their pup. Families will choose in the order of the pick they have in the litter.  See Step 3 in our Steps to Own https://www.hickoryridgegoldens.com/steps-to-own

WHEN DO I PICK UP MY PUPPY? 
Each litter has a designated pick up date. This is generally the first Sunday, after the puppies have reached 8 or 9 weeks, depending on holidays and our schedule. Please reference your specific litter page for this date.  Families will have individual appointment times on this date to pick up their puppy at our location. 

CAN YOU SHIP MY PUPPY TO ME?
We do not offer shipping of our puppies. Please see below for other options.

I'M IN ANOTHER STATE. HOW CAN I GET MY PUPPY?  
Below are multiple options other families have opted for when bringing home their puppy:

 

Roadtrip 

Families who are game for a roadtrip, can arrive at a hotel the evening before, and pick up their puppy the next day. This option is great, as you can plan for stops to allow your puppy to stretch and potty. 
 
Fly in + Rent a Car 

If a roadtrip is not your cup of tea, you can fly into one of the surrounding airports, rent a car, and come pick up your puppy.  We are approximately 40 min from the Columbia (MO) airport,  2 hours from the St Louis airport, and 2.5 hours from the Kansas City airport. You will need to provide your own airline-approved soft carrier and be responsible for meeting your specific airline regulations for taking a pup in-cabin on your return.
 
Fly in to local airport + met curbside 

If you are short on time, you can opt to fly into our local airport in Columbia (MO), and be met curbside for puppy pick up. The puppy flies back in-cabin with you in a soft carrier.  Scheduled correctly with a layover, you can catch a flight back home same-day. Since we are busy on Pick Up Day with appointments, this option needs special arrangement on an alternate date that works for both you and us.  You will need to provide your own airline-approved soft carrier and be responsible for meeting your specific airline regulations.
